| Reverse description | A replica of the celebrated 12th-century Romanesque carving of Our Lady of Meritxell (Mare de Déu de Meritxell), the patron saint of Andorra, depicted in a frontal hieratic pose characteristic of Romanesque Marian iconography. The Virgin is shown enthroned and crowned, holding the Christ Child on her left arm in the traditional Sedes Sapientiae manner. The design faithfully reproduces the stylized drapery folds and formal solemnity of the original polychrome wooden sculpture. The denomination 10 CÈNTIMS appears in the lower field, with the legend MARE DE DÉU DE MERITXELL arcing along the upper border. |
