Sadurní d'Anoia — better known internationally as Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, the capital of Catalan cava production — issued its own emergency fractional currency during the Spanish Civil War, when the Republic's small-change shortage became acute enough that hundreds of Catalan municipalities printed their own local scrip. These tiny card-stock pieces circulated purely out of necessity; without them, everyday transactions under ten céntimos were simply impossible in many towns.

Turró's catalog documents over 2,000 Catalan municipal issues from this period, which gives some sense of how decentralized and improvised the Republican monetary supply had become by 1937–38.
