La Bisbal del Penedès is a small municipality in Tarragona province, and like hundreds of Catalan and Spanish towns during the Civil War, its ajuntament issued fractional paper currency when metallic coins vanished from circulation almost overnight after July 1936. The Barnadas print shop in nearby El Vendrell supplied emergency notes to several local councils in the Camp de Tarragona region, which accounts for the family resemblance across issues from different municipalities in Turró's catalog.
At 86 × 32 mm, this is among the narrowest formats produced during that period — a function of paper economy, not design intent.
