CURSO INTERIOR
(Translation: Popular Anti-Fascist Committee / Fraga / 10 Centimos / No. / For domestic circulation only)
Reverse description Unprinted beige card stock, plain throughout save for the faint bleed-through impression of a circular official ink stamp applied to the obverse, within which partial text is faintly discernible. The otherwise blank surface is consistent with the improvised, utilitarian character of this wartime local scrip issue.

Comments

One of hundreds of locally issued emergency notes produced during the Spanish Civil War, when the Republican zone fractured into a patchwork of municipal and committee-issued fractional currency. The Comité Popular Antifascista de Fraga — a small Aragonese town on the Cinca river — issued these 10 céntimos pieces to address the near-total disappearance of metallic coinage from circulation after 1936, as both sides hoarded coin and the central Republican government struggled to maintain monetary cohesion across the loyalist territories.

Fraga's proximity to the Aragon front gave its local committee unusual autonomy in economic affairs, at least briefly.
