Cuevas de Vinromá is a small municipality in Castellón province, and like dozens of Valencian towns during the Civil War, it resorted to issuing its own emergency fractional currency when Republican Spain's small-change shortage became acute after 1936. The issuing body here — a joint agricultural and industrial cooperative — reflects the collectivization experiments that were particularly widespread in the Valencian interior under anarcho-syndicalist influence.

At 50 × 40 mm on thick card, this was effectively a token, not a banknote. Survival rates for these wartime municipal issues are unpredictable; many were redeemed or destroyed when the Nationalist forces consolidated control of Castellón province in spring 1938.
