Benamaurel is a small municipality in Granada province, and this emission belongs to the wave of localized worker collective currencies that proliferated across Republican-held Andalusia during the Spanish Civil War. With the banking system paralyzed and small coins hoarded almost immediately after July 1936, hundreds of towns and their syndicates, collectives, and municipal councils issued their own fractional paper to keep daily trade moving. The Colectivo de Trabajadores del Comercio — a commerce workers' collective — was an unusual issuer compared to the more common municipal or CNT-affiliated agricultural bodies.

The Gari Mon reference remains unassigned, reflecting how poorly documented many of these Granada province emissions remain.
