| Obverse description | Bare-headed, bearded effigy of King Alfonso XII facing right, rendered in fine relief with naturalistic detail to the hair and beard. The legend ALFONSO XII curves along the left periphery and POR LA G· DE DIOS continues around the upper right, both within a toothed border. The date appears prominently in the lower field, flanked by two small five-pointed stars, with the engraver's initials G·S· incuse below the truncation of the bust. |
