Agramunt is a small town in the Lleida province of Catalonia, and like hundreds of Spanish municipalities it issued its own fractional emergency currency during the Civil War after the Republican government's 1936 collapse of the small-coin supply. These local issues — known as "moneda local" or "paper moneda" — were produced by whatever printer happened to be available in town. Miquel Pera was exactly that: a local press, not a specialist security printer, which shows in the rudimentary production quality common across the Turró-catalogued Agramunt series.
