| Obverse description | The obverse features the national coat of arms of Costa Rica centrally positioned within the field, depicting three volcanoes rising from the sea beneath a rising sun, flanked by seven stars in an arc representing the seven provinces, all enclosed within an ornate shield. Two sailing ships appear in the lower portion of the shield, one on each side of the volcanoes. The shield is surmounted by a crest. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE COSTA RICA runs along the upper periphery, bordered by a continuous ring of beads, with the date 1982 inscribed at the base of the design. |
