Obverse description Two allegorical female figures seated facing one another flank the central hole, rendered in low relief in a style characteristic of the early Third Republic. The figure to the left holds a torch or staff, while the figure to the right is similarly draped in classical robes. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE arcs around the upper periphery, with the monogram RF appearing in the lower field below the central perforation. The overall composition reflects the Art Nouveau-influenced engraving style of Henri Varenne.
