| Obverse description | Left-facing draped bust of Marianne, her hair adorned with a wreath of wheat ears and oak leaves, with radiating sun rays rising above her head in a striking allegorical device. The engraver's signature FAUQUE F appears in the lower exergue. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE runs along the rim, divided by the effigy, with a beaded border encircling the entire field. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail in the hair and drapery, characteristic of the experimental coinage submissions of the Second Republic period. |
