Obverse description Left-facing effigy of the Republic wearing a turreted mural crown, the bust flanked and adorned with small children in high relief, a distinctive allegorical motif characteristic of Barre's Second Republic essai designs. The engraver's signature appears on the truncation of the bust. A continuous circular legend surrounds the effigy within a beaded border, rendered in a neoclassical style reflecting the artistic vocabulary of the Paris Mint workshops under the July Monarchy and early Second Republic.
