Le Havre's Camp des Abattoirs — literally the slaughterhouse camp — was one of several French prisoner-of-war facilities that issued its own fractional scrip when the wartime coin shortage made small change practically impossible to source. These camp-specific emissions were never formally authorized at the national level; local commandants improvised, and the results varied wildly in printing quality and material.

The 10 centimes denomination is the smallest in this series, which meant heaviest use and the highest attrition rate. Survivors in any condition are genuinely scarce.
