Obverse description Central round hole surrounded by the monogram 'RF' (République Française) in large stylised letters, flanked on either side by laurel and olive branches curving along the lower periphery. The design is executed in low relief in the Art Nouveau manner characteristic of Lindauer's work. A rope-twist border frames the outer edge of the coin. The field is plain and unadorned save for the central perforation and flanking vegetal motifs.
