| Obverse description | Within a wreath of laurel branches tied at the base and displayed symmetrically in the field, the large numeral '10' occupies the central position, with the letter 'E' below it and the mint mark 'A' (Paris) beneath that, followed by the date 1870 in the exergue area. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE runs along the upper periphery. Small floral ornaments flank the wreath at the lower sides. The overall design is crisp and neoclassical in character, consistent with the emergency coinage proposals of the Government of National Defense. |
