| Obverse description | The arms of the Republic and Canton of Geneva occupy the central field, depicting the traditional bipartite shield: on the dexter side, an eagle displayed, and on the sinister side, a key surmounted by a column bearing a cross, the whole topped by a radiant sun with the Christogram IHS at its centre. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the circular legend reading around the periphery. A small mintmaster's mark appears at the base of the shield. |

| Reverse description | The reverse bears a plain field with the denomination and issuing authority rendered entirely in bold raised lettering arranged in four lines across the centre of the coin: the abbreviated legend REP·ET CANT· arcing across the upper portion, followed by the large numeral 10, the word CENTIMES, the date 1839, and DE GENEVE arcing along the lower periphery. A continuous beaded border runs inside the rim. |
