Additional information

Uruguay's aluminium bronze coinage of the 1930s was introduced as a direct response to the global metal shortages and economic instability following the Depression, replacing the earlier copper-nickel issues. The 1936 date falls within the presidency of Gabriel Terra, whose 1933 self-coup dissolved parliament and governed by decree until a new constitution was ratified in 1934.

KM#28 ran for over two decades with minimal modification, making date-specific attribution within the series more consequential than it might appear.
