| Obverse description | Left-facing draped bust of Benito Juárez occupies the central field, rendered in moderate relief with fine portrait detail. The circular legend ESTADO L.Y.S. DE OAXACA arcs around the upper periphery, while the date 1915 appears in the lower exergual area beneath the bust. The overall design is austere and utilitarian in character, consistent with the emergency provisional coinage produced during the Mexican Revolution. |

Oaxaca's provisional coinage of 1915 was issued under the authority of Zapotec general Guillermo Meixueiro and the sovereign state government, which had effectively broken from the Carranza-controlled federal apparatus during the Constitutional conflict. The series was struck locally as the national monetary system collapsed and foreign coin hoarding left much of rural Mexico without functional small change.
KM#726 belongs to a family of Oaxacan coppers notorious for crude, inconsistent striking — a direct result of improvised minting facilities rather than any design flaw.
