Misamis Occidental was one of several Philippine provinces that organized emergency currency committees following the Japanese occupation in 1942, when the supply of Commonwealth-issued notes collapsed and barter alone couldn't sustain local commerce. These guerrilla-affiliated provincial issues operated with tacit backing from resistance networks and, in some areas, coordination with USAFFE remnants still active in Mindanao.

Three signatures here — Pacana, Nolasco, and Barbasa — a relatively formal authorization structure for a wartime provincial note, suggesting the committee was attempting to project institutional legitimacy rather than issue scrip informally.
