Obverse description The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched upon a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky outcrop, devouring a serpent in its beak — a design derived from the Aztec founding legend of Tenochtitlan. The eagle is rendered in fine relief with detailed feathering, its wings partially spread. A garland of oak and laurel branches frames the device at the base. The circular legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS runs along the upper periphery in raised Latin letters, bordered by a rope or beaded rim.

Reverse description The central field features the large numeral '10' in bold raised figures, with the denomination legend CENTAVOS inscribed in an arc below. The date appears in the upper portion of the central disc, with the mint mark 'M' (Mexico City) positioned discreetly beneath it. The entire central design is encircled by an elaborate decorative border closely modelled on the Aztec Sun Stone (Sunstone calendar), featuring intricately incised geometric and symbolic motifs drawn from pre-Columbian iconography, giving the reverse a distinctly nationalistic artistic character.
