The Kangxi Emperor ruled China from 1661 to 1722 — one of the longest reigns in Chinese imperial history — and the porcelain produced under his patronage is among the most technically accomplished of the Qing dynasty. Lotus-decorated wares from his reign are particularly prized, with auction records at Sotheby's and Christie's regularly placing authenticated Kangxi lotus pieces well into six figures.
Ghana's Bank has issued a run of large-format coins referencing Chinese decorative arts, targeting the collector markets of Southeast Asia and the Chinese diaspora.
