Obverse description Cast brass cash coin with a central square perforation, bearing four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) arranged in cruciform reading order: top to bottom and right to left. The legend 咸豐重寶 (Xianfeng Zhongbao) reads top, bottom, right, left respectively around the square hole. The characters are rendered in bold relief within a plain raised rim, typical of Qing Dynasty board mint production. The field is flat and undecorated, with no inner or outer rim ornamentation beyond the raised border.
