| Obverse description | Central square hole flanked by four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu), arranged in a cruciform reading pattern: top to bottom and right to left. The four-character reign title inscription reads Xianfeng Zhongbao, identifying the issuing emperor and denoting heavy or substantial currency. The characters are boldly rendered in the classical cash coin tradition, set within a plain inner rim and an outer raised border. |
