Obverse description Cast brass cash coin with a central square hole flanked by four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu), arranged in the traditional reading order: top, bottom, right, left. The legend reads 咸豐重寶 (Xianfeng Zhongbao), meaning 'Xianfeng [era] heavy currency,' identifying the reign of the Xianfeng Emperor (r. 1850–1861). The bold, deeply cast characters fill the four quadrants of the flat, unadorned field, with no rim decoration beyond a plain raised border. The coin exhibits the characteristic proportions of a large-denomination Qing cash piece, with the square hole centrally placed and evenly formed.
