Obverse description Central square perforation surrounded by a raised inner rim, with four large seal script (zhuanshu) characters arranged in the four cardinal quadrants of the field, reading top, right, bottom, left: 唐 (Táng), 通 (Tōng), 國 (Guó), 寶 (Bǎo). The characters are boldly cast in high relief with the characteristic angular complexity of seal script. A raised outer rim borders the coin, and the overall surface displays an olive-brown patina with traces of green cuprite consistent with prolonged burial.
