Reverse description Centre field displays a sinuous Chinese dragon in profile, facing left and clutching a flaming pearl at centre; the dragon is rendered with scaled body, five claws, and detailed cloud surrounds. A legend in Chinese characters arcs above the dragon, reading the reign title of the Guangxu Emperor. Along the lower periphery, an English legend is inscribed in Latin characters identifying the issuing state and denomination. Mintmark characters appear on either side of the dragon in varieties attributable to different provincial mints. The overall design conforms to the standardised late Qing imperial dragon coinage format introduced for the unified copper cash series.
