| Additional information |
Kiangsi's early machine-struck cash issues emerged from the provincial mint at Nanchang, which was among the later installations in the Qing modernization push that swept coastal and interior provinces through the 1890s. The "without mountain" variety — distinguishing it from related types carrying an additional character in the mint mark — reflects the inconsistent supervision of die preparation across provincial facilities, where small graphic and textual differences accumulated between production runs with little central coordination from the Board of Revenue in Beijing.
