| Obverse description | Cast bronze cash coin of large module featuring four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) arranged in cruciform fashion around a central square perforation. Reading top-to-bottom, right-to-left, the legend 大中通寶 (Da Zhong Tong Bao) occupies the four cardinal positions surrounding the hole. The characters are boldly rendered in raised relief against a flat field, with no inner or outer rim decoration beyond a plain raised border. The casting surface shows characteristic texture of late Yuan-transitional period bronze coinage. |
