Obverse description At center, two national flags crossed saltire-wise and tied at the shafts with a ribbon bow; the left flag bears the five-colored bar design of the early Republic, while the right displays horizontal stripes. The flags are enclosed within a beaded inner circle. Four Chinese characters arc across the upper field outside the beaded border, reading 中華民國 (Republic of China), and four further characters appear in the lower field reading 開國紀念 (Founding Commemorative). Small floral or star ornaments serve as separators between the legend segments in the outer field.
