| Obverse description | Pillar dollar (columnario) type obverse of the Spanish host coin, struck at the Mexico City Mint. Two crowned globes flanked by the Pillars of Hercules, each pillar bearing a banner with the motto PLUS ULTRA, set above stylized waves in the exergue. The date 1756 appears at the bottom of the field. A large heart-shaped cutout dominates the center, and a suspension hole is pierced at the top, both characteristic of the Martinique Type II countermark preparation. |

The circular legend reads FERND·VI·D·G·HISPAN·IND·REX around the periphery. A large heart-shaped cutout removes the center of the shield, and a suspension hole is pierced at the top, consistent with the Martinique currency countermark practice of 1764. |
