Reverse description Crowned royal arms of Spain with castles and lions on a shield, flanked by the mint mark MM (Mexico City) to the left and the denomination mark 8 to the right, all on the reverse of the host Spanish colonial 8 Reales. The circular legend reads FERND·VI·D·G·HISPAN·IND·REX around the periphery. A large heart-shaped cutout removes the center of the shield, and a suspension hole is pierced at the top, consistent with the Martinique currency countermark practice of 1764.
