| Obverse description | The state emblem of the Romanian People's Republic occupies the central field, depicted without a star above it, distinguishing this variety (KM#84.1) from the later issues. The emblem features a forested mountain landscape with a rising sun, framed by wheat sheaves tied with a ribbon in the national colors, and bears a small oil derrick as a symbol of industry. The circular legend REPUBLICA POPULARA ROMANA, rendered in the old Romanian orthography, runs along the upper periphery, with the abbreviation RPR appearing at the base. |
