Reverse description The central field features a detailed three-quarter view relief depiction of the Cathedral of St. Simon the Apostle (Simon the Zealot) at New Athos (Novy Afon), Abkhazia, a medieval stone church with a central dome surmounted by a cross, rendered in fine sculptural detail against a mirror-polished background. To the upper left of the cathedral, a decorative ecclesiastical roundel with a cross motif and three chalices is depicted, symbolizing the apostolic heritage of the site. A curved Cyrillic legend arcs along the upper periphery of the field, identifying the subject. In the lower exergue, the inscription 'IX-X ашэ.' (9th–10th century) denotes the historical period of the cathedral's construction.
