Rwanda's "Peace Dollar" series borrows its name — and little else — from the American 1921 prototype. The Banque Nationale du Rwanda has issued these fractional gold pieces primarily for the international bullion and collector market rather than domestic circulation, a common revenue strategy among smaller sovereignties since the 1990s.
At 0.155 g, the gold content is negligible by bullion standards — roughly 1/200th of a troy ounce.
