Obverse description A tall, detailed date palm tree occupies the central field, its fronds spreading broadly at the crown and clusters of fruit visible at the base of the fronds. To the left of the trunk, the country name appears in Hebrew (ישראל) and in Arabic (اسرائيل) arranged vertically along the left rim. A small six-pointed Star of David is positioned to the right of the palm trunk in the lower field. The design is contained within a slightly recessed inner border, lending a clean, modern aesthetic to the composition.

Additional information

Issued to mark Israel's 25th anniversary in 1973, this commemorative fell in the same year as the Yom Kippur War — the surprise Egyptian and Syrian offensive launched on October 6th. The Bank of Israel continued normal commemorative production that year despite the mobilization crisis, a detail that gives the civilian output of 1973 an odd historical texture.
