| Obverse description | Central device depicts a seven-branched menorah (Temple candelabrum), rendered in high relief against a stylised rocky base, evoking the ancient emblem of the State of Israel. The State of Israel coat of arms — a menorah flanked by olive branches within a shield — appears in the upper field above the central motif. The trilingual country name legend curves along the left rim in Hebrew (ישראל) and Arabic (إسرائيل), with ISRAEL inscribed in Latin characters along the lower rim. |

Israel's 10 agorot has been struck in this copper-aluminium-nickel alloy since the 1985 New Sheqel reform, which replaced the hyperinflation-ravaged old sheqel at a rate of 1,000 to one. By 2022 the agora denominations had long lost practical purchasing power, yet Israel — unlike several peer economies — chose not to eliminate them, leaving the 10 agorot in active production decades after rounding rules made sub-sheqel coins largely ceremonial at the register.
