Comments

Da Afghanistan Bank issued this series shortly after the July 1973 coup that ended the Afghan monarchy and established a republic under Mohammed Daoud Khan. The timing matters: notes from the early issues of this range carry no explicit date, making precise attribution within the 1973–1977 window genuinely difficult without accompanying documentation or serial letter analysis.

Thomas De La Rue's involvement here was long-standing — the firm had printed Afghan currency through multiple political transitions, which partly explains why the note's physical execution remained consistent even as the government issuing it changed entirely.
