Obverse description Draped bust of Aphrodite facing right, her hair rendered in loose waves gathered at the nape, the facial features modelled in a soft Hellenistic style typical of Dodecanese island coinage. The portrait occupies the full width of the compact flan, with the field otherwise plain and unadorned.

Additional information

Nisyros, a small volcanic island in the Dodecanese, struck its own bronze coinage despite being a minor settlement overshadowed by the regional power of Rhodes throughout the fourth and third centuries BC. The island's independent mint output was modest, and surviving pieces — particularly at this small module — are genuinely scarce in any condition.
