Additional information

This issue is one of several silver commemoratives authorized by the Bank of Korea during the early 1980s as the country prepared to host the 1986 Asian Games and 1988 Seoul Olympics — a sustained push to project South Korean cultural heritage onto an international stage. Kyeonghoeru, the banquet hall pavilion within Gyeongbokgung Palace, had been destroyed by Japanese forces during the 1592 Hideyoshi invasions and stood as a ruin for nearly three centuries before reconstruction was completed in 1867 under the regent Heungseon Daewongun.

KM#37 had a reported mintage of 30,000 pieces.
