Additional information

Issued as part of Indonesia's first official gold coin program, this piece was authorized to coincide with the 25th anniversary of Indonesian independence. The series was produced at the Franklin Mint in Pennsylvania — an unusual outsourcing arrangement that reflected the limited striking capacity available domestically at the time.

Mintage was tightly restricted, making the 1970 gold issues genuinely scarce rather than artificially so.
