Perum Peruri — the state security printing works — had only been operational for a few years when this note was produced, having been established in 1971 to reduce Indonesia's dependence on foreign printers for its currency. The 10,000 Rupiah denomination was the highest in circulation at the time, a reflection of the inflationary pressures that had plagued the rupiah through the late Suharto stabilization period.
Designer credit to Yunalies is unusually specific for Indonesian issues of this decade; most contemporaneous notes in the series carry no individual attribution at all.
