Belarus conducted a currency reform in 2000 that redenominated the ruble at 1,000-to-1, but the new notes were phased in gradually and early printings were kept deliberately simple to control production costs. P#30A is among the plainer issues in the reformed series — no security thread, watermark only — a specification that was quietly upgraded in later print runs, which is what the catalog suffix distinguishes.
The threadless variant circulated normally and drew no particular public notice; Belarus was managing chronic inflation and note longevity was rarely a priority.
