Reverse description Central shield of the Portuguese royal coat of arms, displaying the traditional arrangement of five escutcheons in cross formation, each charged with five bezants, within a bordure of seven castles. The shield is surmounted by an ornate royal crown and supported by an elaborate draped mantle tied with tasselled cords. The denomination 10.000 REIS appears in the exergue below the shield. The overall design is bold and finely engraved, consistent with a pattern striking of high artistic quality.
