Additional information

Produced as a proof pattern for a denomination that never entered circulation, this piece was part of Macau's late-colonial push to establish a presence in the high-value numismatic market ahead of the 1999 handover to China. The 10,000 pataca face value was purely notional — no circulating coin of anywhere near that worth was ever issued by the Território de Macau.

At roughly five troy ounces of fine silver, the weight places it firmly in the bullion-presentation category rather than any practical monetary function.
