San Marino issued this coin the year after Ferrari's fiftieth anniversary celebrations, a period when the marque was simultaneously mourning Enzo's death a decade prior and defending its Constructors' Championship. The timing was deliberate — San Marino had by then built a cottage industry of themed silver issues exploiting Italian cultural icons it could license without the bureaucratic overhead of the Italian state mint.
KM#377 is one of several Ferrari-themed issues San Marino produced across the 1990s, each tied to a different model or milestone.
