Obverse description The obverse features the arms of San Marino centrally placed: a heart-shaped shield bearing three towers atop three mountain peaks, surmounted by a mural crown, and flanked by oak and laurel branches tied at the base by a ribbon inscribed LIBERTAS. The circular legend REPUBBLICA DI SAN MARINO runs along the upper periphery, with the date 1998 and the engraver's name BINO BINI inscribed in the lower field. The composition is rendered in a clean, classically inspired style with well-defined relief against a mirror-polished proof field.

Reverse description The reverse depicts a young child seated cross-legged in the left field, holding aloft a bouquet of flagpoles bearing European flags, the uppermost inscribed EURO, all streaming dynamically to the right. To the lower right, the denomination L. 10 MILA is prominently struck in bold characters, with the Rome Mint mark R nearby. The engraver's signature L. PANCOTTO appears vertically along the left side of the central design. The circular legend L'EUROPA DEL NUOVO MILLENNIO arcs along the upper periphery, complemented by stylised map outlines of Europe flanking the lower rim. The overall design conveys a forward-looking, optimistic vision of European unity at the dawn of the new millennium.
