| Obverse description | The obverse presents an elaborate ultra-high-relief composition dominated by a dramatically rendered mermaid's scaled tail occupying the lower left field, its finely detailed scales receding in perspective toward the center. In the upper portion, the mermaid's flowing hair and upper torso emerge amid stylized aquatic flora and moonlit rays emanating from the upper right. An architectural structure rendered in classical style — featuring a colonnaded facade — occupies the lower right field, suggesting an ancient or mythological setting. Chad's CFA franc is issued under the authority of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC), which coordinates monetary policy across six member nations. Chad itself has no independent mint infrastructure — coins bearing its name are produced entirely by private minting houses, almost always European, on a contract basis. This piece, at over 400 grams of silver, was made for the collector market and never entered circulation in N'Djamena or anywhere else.
The bimetallic construction — .999 silver with copper elements — is a technique favored by the Czech Mint and a handful of other European contractors for high-value numismatic issues in the 2020s.
