| Reverse description | The reverse features a large, naturalistically rendered sea snake undulating across stylised ocean waves that fill the lower portion of the field, depicted in a traditional East Asian artistic style. In the upper register, a decorative ancient sailing vessel is shown in relief, evoking traditional Vietnamese maritime imagery. The legend RẮN BIỂN · YEAR OF THE SNAKE curves along the upper left and top periphery, with the year 2001 at the left and the Chinese cyclical characters 辛巳 to the right, denoting the year of the Snake in the sexagenary cycle. The inscription 925 FINE SILVER appears vertically along the right border, attesting to the coin's silver fineness. The deeply mirrored proof fields enhance the contrast between the intricate design elements and the polished background. |

| Additional information |
Vietnam's lunar new year commemorative series launched in the 1990s as the country pushed deeper into Đổi Mới economic reforms, and foreign-market collector coins became a modest hard-currency earner. The Year of the Snake issue falls midway through that run, struck for export sale rather than domestic circulation — few of these ever entered Vietnam at all.
