| Reverse description | A central multicolour holographic insert depicts a rearing horse in vibrant iridescent tones against a radiating geometric background, representing the Year of the Horse. Surrounding the hologram, twelve raised relief busts of the Chinese zodiac animals are arranged in a wheel format, separated by radial divisions on a dark lacquered field. The legend 'YEAR OF THE HORSE' and fineness mark '999 FINE SILVER' are inscribed at the top of the field, with 'NGỰA VIỆT NAM' appearing at the lower periphery. |

Vietnam's lunar new year commemorative series began in earnest during the late 1990s as the State Bank sought hard currency through collector sales abroad — these pieces were never intended for domestic circulation and were marketed primarily through overseas distributors. The 2002 Năm Nhâm Ngọ issue marks the Year of the Horse in the 60-year sexagenary cycle, a calendar system that has structured Vietnamese agricultural and ceremonial life for centuries.
KM#63 is frequently found in original packaging with minimal contact marks, consistent with its export-collector distribution model rather than any domestic handling.
