Obverse description Intaglio portrait of Sun Yat-sen in an oval vignette at centre, set against an elaborate guilloche underprint. Two red official seals appear at the lower centre, with denomination characters 關金壹萬圓 within a star-shaped guilloche rosette below the portrait. Red serial numbers and prefix appear twice, above and below the central design, with decorative lace-pattern side borders throughout.

(Translation: Central Bank of China Ten Thousand Customs Gold Units Printed in the 37th year of the Republic of China American Security Banknote Company)
Reverse description Central vignette of the Central Bank of China building in Shanghai, rendered in fine intaglio line engraving, surmounted by a banner inscribed THE CENTRAL BANK OF CHINA. A large guilloche panel below carries the denomination numeral 10000 and the legend TEN THOUSAND CUSTOMS GOLD UNITS. Two facsimile signatures of bank officials appear at the lower portion, with the year 1948 and the printer's imprint at the foot.
