The Transcaucasian SFSR was a short-lived federation of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, created in 1922 partly to neutralize inter-republican disputes over territory — Nagorno-Karabakh chief among them — and to ease their collective absorption into the USSR. This note was issued in 1924, the same year the Soviet monetary reform introduced the chervonets-backed system and ultimately rendered these regional emissions redundant. The denomination reflects the catastrophic rouble inflation that had accumulated since 1917.
The federation itself was dissolved in 1936, its three constituent republics incorporated directly into the Union.
